SPICE JARS IN KITCHEN DRAWER

How was your weekend? We had a rainy weekend in the Bay Area. I had a sleepover at a friends house. Five of us girlfriends did nothing but chatter & natter all night and snoozed for couple of hours early in the morning.
Today I am sharing one of my kitchen drawer organization. The drawer is the one marked in the below picture.
I tend to keep my spices jars and other bottles that store my everyday cooking ingredients on the right side of the stove. I realized this recently. What about you?
This is how the drawer looked till yesterday.
I have had these IKEA RAJTAN spice jars for 7 plus years now. And they have always been in a drawer which ever house I moved in.
IKEA jars
I would label at the bottom of the bottle with a sharpie. The lids has these grove kind which did not give enough space to write on.
I am always in a hurry and picking the bottle to check the label at the bottom while cooking was annoying. So sometime last year I wrote the content of the jar on center part of the lid with a sharpie.
And I did try sticking a small transparent label too.
{Please ignore the dirty lid. I stopped washing the lid to save the label}
And when I decided to wash the lids and removed the label, the aluminum part of the lid peeled with it.
At first I planned on painting the lids with chalkboard paint and labeling the bottles with chalkboard pen. While doing a little research, I came across this chalkboard paper on contact. Using this was easier than the paint since writing on the lid would still be not possible because of the grove thingy....(I know that's not the right word but you get it).
I picked the chalkboard paper and the 2inch round hole punch at Michael's. Yes, used my coupons. In fact, I had 50% off coupons.
I punched the chalkboard papers with the punch. At first, the punch was not able to cut and I thought it must be due to the contact at the back.
I took the chalkboard paper, a lid for measurement and scissor with me for the sleepover thinking I would cut the circles while we would be chatting. What was I thinking???? I did start but cut only 2 circles in 8 hours.

When I came home, I gave another try at the punch and it worked just had to press it little harder.
I did not find the chalkboard pen at Michaels so used a silver color sharpie that I had at home to label. I wrote before peeling the papers and sticking it.
These are spices that I have always had so I am not worried about changing the labels. I might glue the papers to the lid since the glue of the paper is not so strong.
I always had the IKEA shelf liner/mat under these jars so they would not move when opening and closing the drawer. They do move but very slightly.
I always make it a point that anything I buy has a space for itself in the house. Sometimes I follow the rule strictly sometimes I let it go depends on what I am buying.
So whatever you see in the drawer now, that is all this drawer always had. For the past 3 years.

How do you label your jars/bottles?

Have a wonderful week ahead.

    1. Vidhi, It does not fit completely. I tap the bottle lightly and try to fill it. Sometimes, I am left with a spoonful of the powder in the packet.
