FROM OTHER BLOGGERS: OTTOMAN MAKEOVER

Three years ago, I had picked this coffee table for $10 from Craigslist. This was a very sturdy hardwood table. I had plans to upholster this. But could not get to do it.
Two years late, one day I found it missing in the garage. Mr. Tweaks had left it on the walk way with a note "FREE" on it. What happened after he informed me...is a story for some other day....

I do not have a coffee table to ottoman makeover to share with you all, I am sharing the makeovers' of other bloggers. There are lots of them, I selected few to inspire you.

This awesome makeover from coffee table to ottoman is from Design Sponge.
I wish I had similar print for my ottoman.

Melanie from Live from B5 converted this old coffee table to an ottoman. And also added nailhead trims.

FRIDAY FEEDS: EMILY A CLARK

Emily Clark is an interior design blogger who has created designs in her home and her client's that are not only simple and affordable but also beautifully done.
I first came across her blog in 2010 and have been following since then. She is one of my inspiring blogger too. I am sharing with you all the pictures of her first home. Yes, you can visit her to see what she has done and is doing in her new place.
Her living room. She found that the large painting on canvas on Craigslist. And I always thought the pair of chairs in a room had to be similar in color and shape.
And the pair of lamps are from consignment store. She placed the lamps on books for some height.

Her formal dining room. She used botanical prints from a book that she bought for $35 and framed them. The dining chairs were a thrift store finds which she painted white and reupholstered the seat covers.
She as well reupholstered her $50 walmart ottoman.
What better way to display your kids art and make use of the empty wall. The arts are free and the kids happy. Keep changing the artwork as new ones come in.

I had shared her daughter's bedroom in this post. This room is still my favorite for a girl's bedroom. Emily placed round decals on the white wall. The decals were peeled off of the wall after she painted the wall in pink.
Her son's room, I like it that she did kept it simple without crowding too much in his room. The desk lamp....I am on the look out for something similar.
The family room is painted dark blue and white drapes. I love that dark blue rug. Her breakfast room at the far end.
The sun burst mirror on a dark wall and white mantel. It's just perfect.
Her master bedroom has been on so many blogs.
Touch of pink. She recently tweaked her nightstand. You can check it on her blog.

Emily has shared lots of projects small and big on her blog. Almost all of her projects are easy to do and without spending a lot on it.

You all have a wonderful weekend.

FRIDAY FEEDS: POWDER ROOM MAKEOVER

My plan was to introduce Vidya Sukumaran on a post for the Inspiring Blogger's series. I will share her blog again when I start the series.
I have been following Vidya's blog whatsurhomestory  for the past year and half and I started to like her and her design ideas. And the fact that she works her magic without spending too much. She is totally a girl after my own heart. And a fellow Indian.

Vidya recently gave her powder room a makeover which was one of my favorite projects she did. Of many.
She wallpapered her powder room in a vintage style newspaper wallpaper.
Here is the before picture which was not bad either. The orange picture frame is her DIY too.
Vidya picked this mirror for $30 at a yard sale and gave it a makeover too....she painted the frame in red which stands out perfectly on the black & white wallpaper.
The picture frames are from Goodwill. No, she did not find them like this. She changed the pictures in the bigger frames. And the smaller frames got a coat of paint. Instead of spending on new mats, she painted them red. She grouped them on this wall.
Despite the wallpaper being so busy, the powder room looks alluring. It was a good idea to have rest of her decor and accessories simple and clean line.
Did I mention she did not spend too either?
A before and after for you guys.

Vidya has shared so many projects, DIY's and makeover's on her blog. She has also featured one of my makeover which I am so thankful to her. My first time on another blog.

Enjoy reading whatsurhomestory.
And have a wonderful weekend.

FRIDAY FEEDS: MICHELLE HINCKLEY

Long before I started my blog, I used to visit blogs related to interior design and DIY.  Blogs of very talented and inspiring bloggers. I would stalk visit these blogs very often. I still do. I will share with you all these bloggers and their makeovers in this "INSPIRING BLOGGERS" series.
Today's blogger is Michelle from 4men1lady. I started visiting her blog when it was "3 men and a lady" which she changed to "4men1lady" after birth of her 3rd son.

I love the way Michelle designs. They are always very simple and easy to copy get inspired by her style. Today's post is about her Master Bedroom makeover.
She painted a darker shade of grey for the accent wall and a lighter shade of grey on the rest of the walls. She matched her curtains to the darker shade. But she went white with her bed, dresser and chair and used yellow as her pop up color. One can never go wrong with grey and yellow.
This is the wall opposite her bed.
For which she found this dresser on craigslist.
She painted yellow and changed the knobs. An instant upgrade. I am sure, you did scroll up to give a second look at the before. I do it all the time.

She found these dressers in plain for nightstands, which she painted white and upgraded the knobs.
What a change the small tweaks do.
These ring pulls are my favorite.
This $29 Homegoods mirror got tweaked too.
Using these bamboo skewers and hot glue.
She glued skewers on the back of the mirror like this.

And spray painted to this.
I loved the white tufted bed and the bedding. And of course the yellow dresser. What did you like the most?
